Observing the news today, we are being told a lot of lies. The Greg Heartley Project recently released its epic rock piece with the title ‟LIES‟, from the album Shout My Name.
Read for yourself .... Do you agree?
(Verse 1)
The truth’s still tying up its shoes,
While the headlines light the fuse,
Everyone’s selling something new,
In a world that don’t care what’s true.
Promises stacked like cards in smoke,
Whispers rise before words are spoke,
You can’t trust the mirror anymore —
It’s cracked from the truth we ignored.
(Chorus)
Lies — spinning faster every day,
Lies — we can’t tell night from day,
Lies — they’re dressed up and televised,
While the truth gets buried beneath the lies.
(Verse 2)
A liar’s got to have a good memory,
But the crowd don’t want the documentary,
They’ll clap for the kiss and boo the slap,
‘Cause comfort’s better than facing the fact.
Half-truths grow like poisoned vines,
Choking hearts and clouding minds,
We’re knee-deep in the tangled web,
No one can tell where the lies have spread.
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
Even silence cuts like steel,
The cruelest lie’s the one you feel.
A man who lies to himself each day,
Loses the light and fades away.
You can roll your story down the hill —
But the truth will catch you still.
(Final Chorus)
Lies — echo through the smoke and screens,
Lies — rewriting all our dreams,
Lies — till we don’t know who we are,
And the truth’s still walking — just a step too far.
